We have exciting news -- you can now spend more time with your favorite new authors and books! Starting today, new Adult Fiction titles that check out for 7 days will now be checked out for 14 days. Enjoy the extra time during the busy holiday season!
Other items - such as new nonfiction titles, regular books, kids books, etc. - will still check out for 3 weeks. DVDs will also still check out for 7 days. If you have any questions about when items are due, be sure to give us a call!

We’re having a spookily good time giving ghost tours of our Depot building!
Participants are guided through both floors of the Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum and Chanute Public Library with our ghost-hunting equipment while museum and library staff talk about the history of our building, some of the museum artifacts, and our staff’s creepy experiences!
While waiting to begin their tours, our patrons make sure they’re identified with glow sticks, and make Halloween-themed beadable pens. We hope to repeat this event again!
Our Ghost Hunting Kit will soon be available for checkout as part of our Library of Things: more information to come soon!

Join the Chanute Public Library, Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum, and Chanute Area Chamber of Commerce & Office of Tourism today at 5:30pm as we celebrate nearing the end of our historic Depot building's months-long HVAC renovation project. We'll be holding a ribbon cutting with light refreshments, and we'd love to see you here!
