Friends of the  Chanute Library (FOCL)

Friends of the Chanute Library (FOCL) is a group of dedicated community members who recognize the worth of an attractive and effective library. FOCL offers volunteer opportunities for teens and adults.

Book Sale & Donations

Artist Alley Book Sale

FOCL members can help plan or volunteer at our annual Artist Alley Book Sale, which is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year! The book sale takes place every year during the Artist Alley Festival at the end of September.

Book Donations

Due to upcoming HVAC repairs, we are no longer accepting book donations.

Chocolate Sale

FOCL members can help with the Everything Chocolate Sale, which takes place around Valentine’s Day. Members can bake items to sell or help run the sale in the library during the day. The chocolate sale is another big (and delicious!) fundraiser for the library.

Volunteering

FOCL members have unique opportunities to volunteer with the Chanute Public Library:

  • Help plan fun and engaging adult programs throughout the year
  • Assist with children’s programs and events, such as Christmas Storytime, crafts, Summer Reading Sign-Up Day, and other events
  • Bake cookies or provide refreshments for library events
  • Any other ideas you can think of!
Sponsor Special Projects

FOCL members can help decide what special projects or programs to sponsor at the library. Past projects include the permanent Story Walk outside behind the Depot, installation of outdoor and indoor automatic door openers, and summer reading prizes and programs.
