Quick reminder that Food for Fines is ending December 3rd. If you have fines from the Chanute Public Library, bring in a non-perishable food item or three ramen type noodle packages, and get $1 off your fines!

We are also taking registrations for Litwits next year. Every family that signs up will receive a free monthly book and must fill out a short review to receive quarterly prizes. For questions and sign up, ask Kandi or Kaleigh.

Upcoming programs: Christmas Story Times every Tuesday at 4 pm starting November 29th and children’s Christmas crafts every Thursday at 4pm starting December 1st. We will also serve hot chocolate again at the Parade of Lights on December 1st and ask for freewill donations.

Adults crafts will be Monday, December 5th at 5:30 pm. Gloria Davis will host a Christmas air freshener program on Wednesday, December 7th at 5:30 pm. Teen Christmas crafts is on Wednesday, December 7th at 4 pm. Jane Martin and Adele Heffern are back again making Christmas cards on Tuesday, December 13th. Participations must select either the 10 am or 1 pm session when signing up for Christmas cards.

We’re excited to have our first open mic poetry night with the CHS poetry club on Thursday, December 8th at 5:30 pm. Come and listen to poetry or bring your own to read! Free coffee and cookies will be available.

Our last Select-It-Yourself book club of the year (topic: favorite Christmas stories!) will be Tuesday, December 13th at 5:30 pm. Writers Group is on Thursday, December 15th at 5:30 pm.

In partnership with KansasWorks, we are hosting a free Open Resume Lab on December 21st and January 4th from 9 am to 1 pm. If your resume or cover letter needs work or you need help searching for new job opportunities, stop by and ask a KansasWorks representative for help!

Lastly, we are having a Patron Appreciation Celebration on Friday, December 30th from noon to 1 pm. Celebrate all our wonderful patrons and all the wonderful things we did this year! Light refreshments and snacks will be served.

We will take a well-deserved break from programming at the end of the month. We’ll be back with regular programs starting in January!

We will close at 5 pm on Monday, December 12th for our staff Christmas party. The library will be closed December 24th through December 26th. From December 27th through December 30th, the library will close early at 6 pm. We will close at 1 pm on Saturday, December 31st, and be closed all day Monday, January 2nd.
